The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) will visit the Department of Japanese Studies at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski to discuss the LIK magazine issue “Bulgaria and World Expos”, also published in Japanese.

The event will take place on December 19 in Hall 1 of the Centre for Eastern Languages and Cultures (CELC). Students will be able to put questions to BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, LIK Editor-in-Chief Georgi Lozanov, and the magazine’s Managing Editor, Yanitsa Hristova.

CELC has published the invitation on the University’s website, addressing everyone interested in Bulgarian–Japanese relations, Bulgaria’s branding in Japan, and the journalistic perspective on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. “The magazine is known as a long-standing platform for the informative, responsible and conscientious presentation of trends in Bulgarian culture and society,” CELC said.

In April 2025, LIK released an issue dedicated to Bulgaria’s participation in world expositions, timed to the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan on April 13, where Bulgaria is represented with a top-tier Type A national pavilion. The issue was presented on May 18, 2025 (Bulgaria’s National Day at the Expo) concurrently at the Bulgarian pavilion in Osaka and at BTA’s MaxiM Hall in Sofia, with BTA press clubs also joining.

In April, BTA’s literature, art and culture publication released the “Bulgaria and World Expos” issue, inspired by the opening of Expo 2025 in Osaka on April 13 and by Bulgaria’s success at the 1970 expo, also held in the Japanese city. The issue was published in BulgarianEnglish and Japanese.

All LIK issues since the magazine’s relaunch in 2022, including editions translated into other languages, are available free of charge on BTA’s website.
