Institutions from 9 European countries are working together to improve the mental health of students within the HARMONI project, said on Monday Dr. Irena Radeva, head of the Regional Education Department in Varna.
Radeva recalled that a large-scale study was conducted in Varna on the feeling of well-being of young people as part of the project, with over 4,000 students from the sixth to twelfth grades and nearly 600 students from all Varna universities being covered. She emphasized that the topic of the feeling of well-being is of utmost importance, as young people can better plan their future and set goals when they feel successful.
Organizations from Spain, Albania, France, Portugal, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina are working on the project, as well as two ministries from Belgium and Lithuania, Radeva noted, adding that the funding is provided by the European Interreg programme. She commented that based on the results of the study and the implementation of the project, new regional policies can be formed, which will then be proposed for implementation at the national level. In the longer term, the implementation of positive psychology and positive education in a larger number of schools in Varna and the region will also be considered, Radeva concluded.
