An employee of the Regional Road Transport Administration in Plovdiv has been temporarily suspended by order of Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov following a road accident and a positive drug test, the Transport and Communications Ministry said in a press release on Saturday.

On Friday, the inspector caused a traffic incident with an official vehicle in front of a training centre for practical driving exams. While reversing, the employee hit one of two pedestrians walking together, the ministry said.

The driver tested negative for alcohol, but a field drug test returned a positive result. A blood sample was taken for laboratory analysis.

By order of Karadjov, the inspector was immediately suspended from duty pending the results of the laboratory tests and the outcome of the investigation.

Earlier in October, Karadjov said that ten employees of the Road Transport Administration had been dismissed following oral and written corruption reports submitted by transport companies.
