Targovishte has begun building an industrial park through a public-private partnership, said Targovishte Municipality Secretary Hristalina Halacheva on Tuesday during a discussion panel at the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities, held in the Albena resort complex. The event was organised by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.
"Targovishte is located 100 kilometres from the coastal city of Varna and the same distance from Ruse, so it offers the necessary connectivity for investors," Halacheva pointed out, adding that the park will have very good energy sources, and a substation is also being built.
Halacheva specified that the creation of a public-private partnership has helped to secure the necessary land and that BGN 34.6 million have been provided for the implementation of the park, of which just under BGN 28 million under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Targovishte is one of the few towns in the country where the population is increasing because there is work, Halacheva emphasized, noting that if good conditions are provided, the town will continue to attract new people.
