site.btaPresident Radev Stresses Need to Reorganize Judicial System to Ensure True Rule of Law

Speaking on Thursday, President Rumen Radev said that it is high time that "our judicial system is organized in a way that truly upholds the rule of law." He was commenting on a decision made earlier that day by the Supreme Court of Cassation regarding acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.

Radev made these remarks while attending the presentation of a phototype edition of the Macedonian Almanac at Sofia University.

"Bulgarians should respond to this decision," the President said. "This is a blow to democracy that will have long-lasting negative effects," he added.

"I do not want to comment on the court’s decision, but it is clear they are ruling according to the law. And the law is very clear," Radev noted.
