MP Stanislav Anastasov of MRF-New Beginning said that Atanas Slavov had tried to deceive the entire country. According to the new rules of PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe), the post-monitoring mechanism can have two outcomes – it can either be terminated or turn into a full monitoring mechanism, he said. That is exactly what Nadejda Yordanova supported - for Bulgaria to enter a full monitoring mechanism, Anastasov said. "At this moment, you have betrayed your own country," he added.
MP Yordan Tsonev of MRF–New Beginning commented that “there will be no rule of law as long as this clique runs rampant in Bulgaria and writes denunciations." According to him, Nadezhda Yordanova’s vote is just one aspect of this general policy. "You are political informers to the detriment of Bulgaria, and we will not allow you to take control of any system in Bulgaria and use it against the country," Tsonev added.
On October 1, 2025 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) closed its 26-year-long post-monitoring dialogue with Bulgaria. Former Bulgarian justice minister Nadejda Iordanova [MP of the opposition Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria] abstained in the vote and together with several PACE members from North Macedonia were the only ones who did not back Bulgaria.
