In an interview for the Bulgarian National Television aired on Friday night, Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov said that votes of no confidence are the nuclear button of an opposition and should be used when there is a chance to bring down the government. For everything else, there are the debates taking place in Parliament.

On Thursday, the fifth vote of no confidence in the Zhelyazkov Cabinet was also unsuccessful. The motion was backed by 101 MPs, while 133 voted against it. There were no abstentions. The motives behind the motion were the Cabinet's failure of internal order and security, justice, and state capture. According to Mitov, the vote was based on unproven allegations.

The Minister said that political language has become vulgar. When asked whether the vocabulary used by Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski was vulgar, Mitov said Peevski's words had nothing to do with the debates on the vote. The Interior Minister added: "It is obvious that without the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning, there would be no majority in Parliament."

Mitov stated that the vilification of institutions must stop, and political language must be changed. He added: "We have been left with no credible entities, because we talk this way, and all this aggression is absorbed by the public."
