The Government adopted a National Strategy for Migration and Asylum Management for 2025-2030. The draft strategy was prepared within the framework of the strategic working group on migration and asylum management of the National Council on Migration, Borders, Integration, in accordance with the model adopted by Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/503 for the development of the strategy to be used by Member States to ensure comparability in relation to specific key elements.

The Strategy for Migration and Asylum Management has been developed in response to the growing need for a sustainable, effective, and coordinated approach in a dynamic migration environment and heightened expectations on the part of the European Union and reflects the commitment of the Republic of Bulgaria to participate actively in pan-European efforts for balanced migration management and the provision of protection, in accordance with the principles of international and European law, as well as national priorities in the field of security, human rights, and social development.
