A nationwide information campaign on Bulgaria's entry in the euro area and the adoption of the euro as the national currency on January 1, 2026, is set to begin in Burgas on September 2, the Finance Ministry announced Monday. The event will be held at the International Congress Centre Burgas. Representatives of local authorities and business have been invited. Citizens can also join the discussion.
The goal of the discussions is for the leading institutions involved in introducing the single European currency in Bulgaria, including the Ministry of Finance, the Bulgarian National Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Commission for Consumer Protection, the National Revenue Agency, the Financial Supervision Commission, and the National Social Security Institute, to provide clear, detailed and reliable information on the main stages and deadlines of the process.
Managers and experts from these institutions will be available for discussion and questions from the audience. Partners in the campaign include the Economic and Social Council, the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, employer and trade union organizations, and the Association of Banks in Bulgaria.
