site.btaBulgaria Launches Free Mobile App Providing Medicine Prices in Leva and Euro
A new mobile application, MedicinePrice, which will provide citizens with access to up-to-date information on medicine prices in Bulgaria both in Bulgarian leva and in euro, was presented at the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
Health Minister Silvi Kirilov stated that the MedicinePrice app is a project developed in collaboration with the National Council on Pricing and Reimbursement. The app is free and will allow every citizen to access current information on the prices of medicines in Bulgaria that are covered by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), as well as those available on the open market. Kirilov pointed out that its creation is part of the preparations for Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone on January 1, 2026, and is a measure to ensure transparency and stability in the pharmaceutical supply sector.
On August 8, 2025, the National Council on Pricing and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products, as a state institution directly responsible for price regulation of medicinal products in Bulgaria, successfully adapted its publicly maintained registers by announcing medicine prices in euros as well, said the Council’s Maria Vasileva. She added that the price adaptation was completed ahead of schedule.
In addition to medicine prices, the mobile application can provide information on whether a particular medicine requires a prescription or not. It can also inform users if a given medicine is covered by the NHIF.
