There is no greater threat to Bulgaria than Russian propaganda, said Atlantic Club of Bulgaria President Solomon Passy here on Thursday. He opened a conference on NATO after the Summit in The Hague on June 25 and the Bulgarian dimension in 2025-2035, organized by the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria with the support of the Atlantic Alliance Reserve Officers.
According to Passy, in the context of the forest fires during the summer season, it would be appropriate for NATO to discuss the creation of a joint force or a joint compound to fight disasters and accidents. In his words, Bulgaria should make more use of its right of initiative.
The NATO Summit in The Hague marked the next phase of the Alliance's development, 75 years after its establishment, the organizers of Thursday's conference recall. Three key messages were delivered: that NATO remains and will continue to evolve as the free and democratic world's premier and most successful defence alliance, standing firmly on the principles of its founding Charter; Article 5 was explicitly reaffirmed; and an increase in military spending was unanimously agreed, with the aim of reaching 5% of GDP by 2035.
