At its weekly meeting on Wednesday, Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers gave the green light to the establishment of a consulate of Romania in the city of Ruse, Northeast Bulgaria. The consular district will cover the regions of Ruse, Pleven, and Veliko Tarnovo.

The functions of honorary consul will be carried out by Victor Gugushev, senior partner at Gugushev & Partners Law Office. He has extensive experience in cross-border legal consulting, corporate law, and international mergers and acquisitions. Gugushev is also Chairman of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.

The opening of the honorary consulate is expected to strengthen bilateral trade, economic, cultural, and educational ties between Bulgaria and Romania.
