Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here Wednesday.
Hayrapetyan is on an official visit to Bulgaria for the ninth session of the Bulgarian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, which will be held from July 16 to 18.
The Armenian delegation also includes First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan and Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
Both sides expressed high appreciation for the friendly relations rooted in longstanding historical and cultural ties, and shared values between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples. They discussed promising prospects for bilateral cooperation, including within the successful framework of the EU-Armenia dialogue. Current international issues were also addressed.
The priority goals included strengthening economic cooperation, expanding trade, and improving connectivity in transport, energy, digital sectors, and people-to-people exchanges.
Hayrapetyan emphasized Armenia’s progress in high-tech industry and its readiness to accelerate cooperation with Bulgaria in this field. Georgiev noted Armenia’s role as a key partner in the broader Black Sea region and stressed that improving regional security and stability depends on strengthening resilience and connectivity between Europe and Asia in all dimensions. Bulgaria reaffirmed its support and willingness to share expertise in Armenia’s EU rapprochement process.
The Bulgarian and Armenian Ministries of Foreign Affairs held political consultations on Tuesday, led by Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova and Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Kostanyan.
The talks included a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, focusing on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, connectivity issues, and efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in the wider Black Sea region.
