In connection with a notification from Indonesia regarding the end of the term of the country’s honorary consular official in Bansko, the Council of Ministers has withdrawn its consent for the establishment of a consulate in Bansko headed by an honorary consular official as well as for the appointment of an honorary consular official, the Government Information Service said on Wednesday.
At Indonesia’s request, the Council of Ministers has approved the opening of a consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Veliko Tarnovo led by an honorary consular official. Georgi Shopov has been appointed to the position, with his office based in Veliko Tarnovo and a consular district that includes the regions of Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Lovech, and Targovishte.
The decision is expected to help strengthen bilateral cooperation with Indonesia in trade, economics, culture and education, among others.
