A significant amount of fentanyl has been seized during an operation conducted by the prosecuting magistracy and the Interior Ministry’s General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC). The operation involved two separate cases, Deputy Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova said at a news briefing on Monday.

The seizures took place in the regional centres of Montana and Targovishte, with approximately one kilogramme of the drug confiscated in each location.

Stefanova urged the public to remain vigilant and proactive in the fight against this type of narcotic, emphasizing its high risk, especially for children.

GDCOC Head Boyan Raev added that, on June 24, in Targovishte, authorities arrested an individual who had been under investigation for over a year. The suspect was found in possession of 1.040 kg of fentanyl, diluted and prepared for street distribution.

The investigation revealed connections to the city of Varna, confirming that the suspect was supplying the wider Varna region, Raev further explained.
