Martin Dimitrov MP of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria told journalists in Parliament's lobby on Wednesday that Democratic Bulgaria (DB) has submitted a bill fostering competition and limiting price hikes in the home appliances sector, according to a statement released by Yes, Bulgaria, part of the DB coalition.
"We submitted a bill on product fees, which will prevent the price of household appliances from increasing by BGN 20 to BGN 50 starting in July. Our goal is to stimulate greater competition among the organizations involved in the recycling and recovery of appliances. We met with business representatives, and they all identified rising prices as the key issue. We have proposed a solution and urge other parties in Parliament not to hide but to support us," Dimitrov noted.
During the briefing, it also became clear that DB will not support the upcoming no-confidence vote in the Zhelyazkov Cabinet, despite the party's criticisms of the budget's execution.
Ivaylo Mirchev, Co-chair of Yes, Bulgaria, commented on the recent upheavals affecting their coalition partners from Continue the Change (CC), stating that the problem is very serious and that deep reforms are needed. He once again stressed that he expects a clear action plan and an internal review of all public officials within CC, as well as of the public procurement procedures they have carried out.
