At a meeting on Tuesday, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision to withdraw the consent to Daniel Tienda Gonzalez-Mendiondo, a citizen of the Kingdom of Spain, acting as Honorary Consular Official of the Republic of Peru in the Republic of Bulgaria, based in Sofia and with a consular district covering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Cabinet consented to Bulgarian national Ivo Ivaylov Todorov performing these functions instead, the Government Information Service reported.

Bulgaria attaches importance to the development of bilateral relations with Peru and views in a distinctly positive light the opportunities for their further strengthening in areas of mutual interest, which is in line with the EU's active efforts to strengthen relations and cooperation with the countries of the Latin America and Caribbean region as traditionally close and like-minded partners.

The appointment of an honorary consular official of Peru in Bulgaria has the potential to yield positive results in the quest to deepen bilateral relations in a number of areas of interest to both countries, the press release further said.
