I am submitting an alert to the prosecutor's office against Tsoncho Ganev, Yavor Bozhankov, MP of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, told journalists in parliament on Thursday. He stressed that the reason was politically motivated violence against him by Tsoncho Ganev, MP of Vazrazhdane, who is also Parliament’s deputy chair.
Politically motivated violence in a European country in 2025 is absolutely unacceptable, Bozhankov said. “This is not an isolated incident, it is systematic anti-democratic behaviour,” he added.
Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria announced that they are demanding the dismissal of Tsoncho Ganev as deputy chair of the National Assembly and will start collecting signatures for this end. The formation called on GERB-UDF to also lend their support with signatures.
Yavor Bozhankov also said that the Bulgarian parliament had entered the world news exchange with coverage undermining the prestige of the institution, referring to yesterday's altercation in the plenary hall. Bozhankov also said that he had not insulted or provoked Tsoncho Ganev in any way.
The CC-DB also commented on a possible vote of no confidence in the government. "Yesterday we said - in September at the earliest, and this will be a decision of the parliamentary group. Quite clearly. Earlier than September, we do not see much sense in it," Ivaylo Mirchev said.
Asked how he would comment on the words of GERB leader Boyko Borissov, according to whom “the voters would not forgive” if such actions were taken, Mirchev replied: “I would advise him to watch his party, to watch his government. Leave our relationship to us. We do what is important for the country and we do not participate in situational games."
