With 64 votes in favour, 44 against, and 93 abstentions, the National Assembly Thursday rejected four draft decisions for stripping of immunity four MPs of Vazrazhdane at the request of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. The proposal to include the four items on Thursday's agenda of Parliament was submitted by Hamid Hamid MP of MRF - New Beginning.

The lift of MP immunity will allow the launch of criminal proceedings against Slavcho Krumov, Ivaylo Chorbov, Yordan Todorov, and Nikola Dimitrov. The requests to strip them of immunity are based on proposals of the Sofia City Prosecution in connection with the escalation of tension during a protest organized by Vazrazhdane on February 22 in the capital.

After the proposals were rejected, Hamid asked GERB-UDF what they were afraid of. "You are afraid of the law - until these consents are given, this lawlessness in the streets, in the National Assembly, will continue, Vazrazhdane will behave like aborigines - you will watch it every day," he reasoned.

National Assembly Chair Natalia Kiselova reprimanded him over the use of "aborigines". Hamid argued that the word means natives.
