site.btaMECh Leader Attributes Convergence Report Outcome to Political Decision, Not Bulgaria's Readiness to Adopt Euro

Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) Floor Leader Radostin Vasilev said Wednesday he expects Bulgaria's euro convergence report to be postive, "because this is how it is planned in advance and it has nothing to do with the country's readiness to join the eurozone".

The European Commission (EC) and the European Central Bank (ECB) will present Wednesday afternoon reports with their assessments on Bulgaria's readiness to join the euro area. Vasilev argued that the outcome of the report will be based on political decision.

"We have to do everything possible to put the nation in a better condition, whether we are with euro or with lev, but this is not how it is done in normal countries. In normal countries there are rules and when those rules are implemented, certain events occur," he added.
