The 12th international scientific conference on modern management practices and Industry 5.0 was held at Burgas Free University in the seaside city on Tuesday. Organized by the Centre for Economic and Management Sciences at Burgas Free University, it brought together representatives of universities from all over the world.
For the first time, Bulgarian participants are below 30% and there are guests from all continents, said Burgas Free University Rector Milen Baltov during the opening of the conference. He noted that among the participants are representatives of universities and institutions from Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa and other countries, as well as guests from Colombia, adding that the conference also brings together university partner institutions from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Latvia. “We can confidently say that the conference is global, not just international,” Baltov underscored. The university rector announced that two more memoranda of cooperation with higher education institutions in Indonesia will soon be signed.
The partnership between Burgas Free University and the MARA University of Technology in Malaysia has over a decade of history, MARA University of Technology Prof. Jamaliah Said said. "This is my third visit to Burgas. I am glad to see familiar faces, even some of the shop owners are the same, which speaks of stability and continuity. I hope this is not our last visit here," she emphasized. She pointed out that the MARA University of Technology is among the leading universities in Malaysia, and expressed satisfaction with the participation of representatives from Indonesia in the conference, as well as with the signed memorandum of understanding. “I hope that this partnership will expand not only with Malaysia, but also with Indonesia, and include more joint research,” she noted.
Today marks the beginning of a strategic partnership, based on shared academic values and aimed at global cooperation, said Dr. Kevin Deniswara, lecturer at BINUS University in Jakarta (Indonesia). He expressed his satisfaction with the signed memorandum of understanding between BINUS University and Burgas Free University. “We look forward to developing compatible programmes for student exchange, research and academic cooperation, which will enrich both institutions,” he underscored.
Managers and entrepreneurs in Industry 5.0 should remember that one of the most important management skills is communicating with the public through the media, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said. He underscored that the media and especially news agencies, such as the Bulgarian News Agency, are responsible for the difficult work, as they give people from all over the world the opportunity to understand each other. In his words, Industry 5.0 creates a new production model based on cooperation between people and machines. "We know that before we develop AI, we need to develop human intelligence," he said, noting that AI cannot replace live reporters, but it can be of assistance to journalists.
