National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova described the coming days as crucial for Bulgaria’s eurozone bid, noting that alongside the European Commission's report on Bulgaria’s readiness to adopt the euro, due on June 4, opinions are also expected from the European Central Bank and the European Commission. Speaking to journalists at Okolchitsa Peak on Monday, Kiselova noted that there will be no disruption to the National Assembly’s work, despite the Vazrazhdane party's announced plans to block Parliament's work on Wednesday.
“Protests are part of everyday life. There may be demonstrations, but I don’t assign them great importance,” Kiselova added.
She also pointed out that last week the National Assembly demonstrated unity on key issues, citing the decision related to North Macedonia's progress toward EU accession talks. “On certain causes, we can be united—this is the case with the decision on the Republic of North Macedonia. On other issues, there are political differences, which are part of the country’s political dialogue,” Kiselova noted.
The decision reaffirms that Bulgaria remains fully committed to the European consensus reached in July 2022, and calls on the authorities in the Republic of North Macedonia to strictly adhere to their obligations.
