site.btaPolice Detain Romanian Citizen in Svishtov for Drug Possession

Police officers in Svishtov detained a Romanian citizen for possession of narcotics, the press centre of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Veliko Tarnovo said on Thursday.

The Romanian citizen was found in possession of a plant mass with the smell of tobacco during a specialized police operation to counter the possession and distribution of narcotics on Wednesday. During a subsequent search of his hotel room, about 15 kg of plant mass with the smell of tobacco and five one-litre bottles containing heroin, methamphetamine and amphetamine, were found and seized. Some 15 envelopes containing plant mass with a weak reaction to cannabis were seized from his car as well.

The Romanian citizen has been detained for a period of up to 24 hours. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
