In a post on the Council of Ministers' Facebook page on Europe Day, May 9, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov is quoted as saying: "In times of global challenges and conflicts, a strong and united Europe is our shield."

"Happy Europe Day! Today we celebrate peace, solidarity and unity - the foundations on which United Europe is built," Zhelyazkov added. In his words, Bulgaria is an integral part of the European family. The membership in the European Union has brought Bulgaria historic achievements: more modern infrastructure, free movement, better education, support for innovation, sustainable agriculture and real opportunities for young people and businesses, the Prime Minister noted.

With EU support, Bulgaria is rebuilding regions, renovating schools, and building a digital and green economy. Bulgarian scientists, entrepreneurs and farmers rely on real programmes and investments that change lives, Zhelyazkov added.

"In days of geopolitical tension, destabilisation and hybrid threats, Europe remains a pillar of stability, security and reason," the post reads further. In Zhelyazkov's words, Bulgaria's accession to Schengen is a well-deserved recognition. "The eurozone is our next goal and we will reach it soon because we have proven to be a reliable partner that keeps its commitments," The Bulgarian Prime Minister noted.

"Let us continue to build together a Europe of solidarity - fair, strong, sustainable," he urged.
