site.btaPomorie Municipality Denies Reports of Oil Spills on Beaches


There are no oil spills on Pomorie beaches, said the Municipality's press center, after information that "the Pomorie beach is flooded with oil stains".
The Municipality stated that at around 11:15 am on Saturday, a signal was received from Kosata beach. Authorities established the presence of small oil balls thrown out of the sea and melted by the sun. No spill, pollution or disaster was established. The signal, as well as the information from the inspection, were also submitted to the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental and Water Protection in Burgas.
On February 21, about 40 bags with pieces of fuel oil were collected from the Harmanite beach strip in Sozopol. An inspection of the beach was carried out the day before by the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water Resources and the Black Sea Region Basin Directorate in Varna, following a signal from citizens about the presence of fuel oil stains on the shore.
