The best scenario for Bulgaria would be to hold elections in the autumn, MECH leader Radostin Vasilev said to journalists in parliament on Wednesday.
He noted that his party intends to be an active and strong opposition in the new session of the National Assembly.
"A new parliamentary session started in the National Assembly, but everything remains as before. MECh will continue with its main role in the coming parliamentary days — to be the most serious opposition to the cabinet of [Prime Minister] Rosen Zhelyazkov. In fact, this is a cabinet of [MRF-New Beginning Leader] Delyan Peevski operating under cover. In our declaration, a tradition for the opening of the new session, we addressed the biggest political problem in Bulgaria. This is the complete instability of the government, which tries to hide that instability with declarative measures in its statements", Vasilev said.
"The support of [MRF-New Beginning leader] Delyan Peevski for this government, as well as the fact that [There Is Such a People (TISP) floor leader] Toshko Yordanov, [TISP leader] Slavi Trifonov and Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) are pretending not to notice, cannot be concealed from the Bulgarian public," he added.
I am calling on BSP, There Is Such a People (TISP) and GERB-UDF to go to elections and see what the real situation is, Vasilev said.
Vasilev also said that Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria seems uncertain, as shown by their decision not to make a statement at the start of the new plenary session.
