site.btaTreti Mart Movement Takes Steps to Found Party, Plans to Run in Next Parliamentary Elections

The Treti Mart [March 3, Bulgaria's Liberation Day] Movement began the process of establishing a political party, with the establishment of an initiative committee for the founding of the Treti Mart Party here on Saturday. The movement's Chair Tihomir Atanasov told reporters that the initiative committee will prepare a founding congress and take the necessary steps to register the political formation.

Atanasov stated that the movement supports the policies of President Rumen Radev and considers him as its informal leader, specifying that this is a form of civic support. Atanasov also announced that once established, the party will run in the next parliamentary elections. The initiative committee includes representatives from 22 or 23 regions from across the country, Atanasov said.

Funding at this stage comes from membership fees to the Treti Mart Movement, which boasts some 5,000 members.

At the start of the press conference, a founding declaration was adopted and read out. It stated that March 3 is a symbol of freedom and Bulgarian statehood. The future party defines itself as a civic community with a mission to protect the country's independence, national identity, and traditions. Its core values include sovereignty, family, Christian values, national unity, justice, education, and spirituality, and its goals are to revive national pride, protect the dignity of citizens, promote economic development, and support Bulgarian families.
