Head of State Rumen Radev will receive Tuesday his counterpart of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos-Horta, who is on working visit to Bulgaria, Radev’s press office said.

Two presidents will hold a one-on-one meeting, after which they will hold plenary talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Rumen Radev and Jose Ramos-Horta will discuss the opportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and the youngest of Asian countries. The prospects for educational and scientific exchanges, partnership in administrative capacity building, the development of trade and economic relations and investments will also be topics of the talks.

Jose Ramos-Horta's visit to Bulgaria is the first bilateral visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and East Timor in 2003. President Ramos-Horta has been an active advocate of his country's independence since the late 1960s. Together with his compatriot Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996 for his efforts to bring about a just and peaceful solution to the conflict in East Timor.

The Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs is organizing a public lecture by President Ramos-Horta, which will take place at 3 pm in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
