"I can say that the Central Election Commission (CEC) makes its decisions in accordance with the provisions of the law and not under political pressure," CEC Chair Kamelia Neykova told Bulgarian National Radio here on Sunday.

She said that no one has put pressure on her for the way she votes when decisions are made, and this is the case not only for these elections but also in the past. According to Neykova, her other CEC colleagues have not disclosed information about any pressure being put on them either. "It's as if someone is trying to create distrust in the CEC, as if we are working so that the vote is unfair and there are then grounds to challenge it," Neykova said.

She also added that the CEC is not influenced by the decisions of political parties, political bodies. According to her, political entities should solve their problems within their formations, and it is unacceptable for anyone to expect the CEC to be an arbitrator or to make their decisions.
