There has been an attempt by the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and GERB to sabotage the activities of the ad-hoc committee in Parliament to verify facts and circumstances related to the activities of the group around Martin Bojanov, aka The Notary. This is what MP from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria Boyko Rashkov told journalists in Parliament.

“I think that the reasons for this are already quite crystallized, they are clear,” he added.

The facts point to higher levels than those occupied by Martin “Notary” Bojanov and Petar “Euro” Petrov, i.e. the relationship between the two is becoming more and more evident. From there, we will reach much higher levels of influence, including in political circles, Rashkov said.

In his words, the absence of GERB-UDF and MRF from Tuesday's meeting of the committee on the activities of the group around Martin Bojanov leads to the conclusion that they are afraid of the final result that the committee may reach in the hearing of the people.

“I have reason to assume that Martin Bojanov and Petar Petrov were in contact with high political levels, which allowed them to receive direct information about what pre-trial proceedings were being conducted, which persons were being investigated in the tax and other spheres, and in such a way they targeted citizens affected by the actions of state bodies. This allowed them to develop their extortion and fraudulent activities,” he said.

Asked whether it was possible that MRF chairman Delyan Peevski was involved in the plot, Rashkov said that not only was this plot possible, but it was assumed from facts that were known. Peevski had been in the investigative department of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office for less than a year, where Petar Petrov as head of that department and other known persons had worked at a later point, he added.

Asked if he was referring to Boyko Borissov's cabinet as a link in the executive branch, Rashkov said "not just Borissov’s".

The committee was established on February 7. It is made up of 17 MPs on a proportional basis - five from GERB-UDF, four from CC-DB, three from "Vazrazhdane", three from MRF, one from "BSP for Bulgaria" and one from "There Is Such a People". The term of the committee's work is three months, during which it must find all the facts and circumstances surrounding the possible presence of individuals and organized groups of influence in the justice system in connection with the publicly disclosed information about Bojanov’s activities.
