The governments of Bulgaria and Turkiye concluded a Memorandum of Understanding regarding cross-border airspace security operations, which was signed by the defence ministers of the two countries, Todor Tagarev and Yasar Guler, said the Ministry of National Defence of Turkiye on the X social network.

On Wednesday, Tagarev met with Guler in Ankara, and the meeting took place behind closed doors, Anadolu Agency reported. Tagarev is visiting the Turkish capital at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Guler.

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to approve a draft Memorandum of Understanding at the end of January. The Memorandum defines the rights, responsibilities and obligations of the parties, as well as the basic principles, procedures and conditions for conducting cross-border operations to protect the airspace of the two countries.
