Former prosecutor general Ivan Geshev presented here on Sunday his Civil Block political platform. He expressed the hope that the civil association will give people a hope that depends on their own fate, and not on some other people.
The talks were joined by representatives of the Future for the Roma Community association.
In Geshev's words, Civil Block is a civil organization comprising nearly 40 civil organizations. "Our goal is for citizens, regardless of the community they are from, to know that something depends on them and to participate in the political process, instead of their votes being used and being entered into some commercial associations," Geshev explained.
Radoslav Kostadinov of Future for the Roma Community said that his formation was attending Sunday's event to present the Roma's other face. "Young, educated, intelligent people - as we are, and not as they show us to be," he noted. In his words, his formation will be a catalyst attracting educated Roma from across Bulgaria. "Our idea will be simple and effective. I want us to come into contact with all the Roma from the neighbourhoods, to hear their problems and demands, to seek together ways to solve these efficiently and quickly," he explained.
Geshev commented that there is no conscious state policy towards the Roma community.
