site.btaDB Co-chair Hristo Ivanov: Forming Regular Government with Second Mandate Absolutely Imperative
Forming a regular government on a rotating basis with the second exploratory mandate is absolutely imperative, Democratic Bulgaria co-chair Hristo Ivanov told the Bulgarian National Radio here on Sunday. He called on CC-DB prime minister designate Prof. Nikolay Denkov and GERB-UDF prime minister designate Mariya Gabriel to continue the negotiations as a matter of urgency without perpetually changing the approach for forming a government.
Denkov should be the first to serve as a prime minister, because this is the period in which constitutional reforms should be carried through, Ivanov said, emphasizing that it was the CC-DB alliance who put forward the proposal.
According to the DB Co-chair, the constitutional reform is the most important challenge which, if tackled, would allow the government to work indefinitely. “If we do that, we will be able to face the people and say – no matter of the past everyone [political parties] has, we are working to dismantle the model of corruption", Ivanov added.
