Italy’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Guiseppina Zarra met with National Assembly Chair Rossen Zhelyazkov, the Italian Embassy in Sofia said on Friday. They discussed the political situation in the country, the modernization of the Bulgarian army, the judicial reform, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and Bulgaria’s support to Ukraine.

The diplomat reaffirmed the importance of the strategic relations between Bulgaria and Italy for the security of the region and Europe. Zarra underlined the excellent cooperative relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries and the importance of strengthening political dialogue.

The Ambassador pointed out that the relations between Italy and Bulgaria are traditionally good and friendly, based on the common membership in the EU and NATO.
