A joint coordination meeting between representatives of the Bulgarian and the Turkish authorities was held at the Kapitan Andreevo border control checkpoint on Tuesday so that the two sides could exchange information on the investigation.

Interior Minister: Main Lead in Border Shooting Incident Is Criminal Activity

Speaking to reporters in the southern town of Elhovo on Wednesday, caretaker Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said that the motives of the shooters at the Bulgarian-Turkish border on Monday evening, when a Bulgarian border police officer was shot dead, have become clear. The main lead is criminal activity and not human or drug trafficking, Demerdzhiev said.
