The nationalist party Vazrazhdane Friday threatened to tighten the rules for registration of non-profits and NGOs receiving funding from abroad. "In the next Parliament, Vazrazhdane will propose a very strict regime for registration and operation of foundations and NGOs which receive funding from abroad, even if they are foreign individuals and juristic persons," leader Kostadin Kostadinov told a news conference in Sofia.
He also said that some media outlets have turned into "mouthpieces for certain political forces and the political interests of foreign embassies", and that it adds up to foreign interference in the internal affairs of this country.
He said it is "a big problem which will be resolved when Vazrazhdane becomes the leading political force and starts running the country".
Vazrazhdane have translated the US Foreign Agents Registration Act and have "adapted it to the needs of the Bulgarian legislation" making sure it is consistent with the other Bulgarian and EU laws. They decided against submitting it to the last Parliament because they were aware it would not go through but would make sure it goes to the legislature when they have their own government, said the leader.
