It was about time the government took its first step in the right direction, Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev told reporters in Parliament on Wednesday. We are pleased and welcome the decision to remove Borissov’s security detail, which is an overdue action on the part of those in power in recent years.
The government’s decision to remove Borissov's and Peevski's security detail came after an analysis was conducted based on data from the competent authorities.
"As for Peevski, the fact is that several months ago he himself requested the removal of his security detail and had asked why it was still in place. So we can assume that he himself withdrew his request for security protection," Ganev said, describing the act as a "good move". He added that Vazrazhdane "congratulates the government" on removing Borissov’s security detail.
The MP added that Vazrazhdane had introduced a bill stipulating that no member of parliament should be entitled to security from the National Service for Protection and that, if security is required, the Ministry of Interior should provide it.
