Ivan Vasilev has been proposed Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation in the draft Cabinet of Rumen Radev

Ivan Vasilev has longstanding expertise in the fields of economics and finance, as well as in the development and management of economic policies and technological projects. From 2023 until September 2025, he served as deputy mayor of Sofia Municipality in charge of finance and healthcare, and temporarily also of public construction.

For four years, Vasilev was a member of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association, where he also held the position of Director for Policies and Strategies. He co-authored amendments to the Commerce Act related to the creation of a new type of company - a Variable Capital Company - as well as legislative changes aimed at encouraging the attraction of highly qualified specialists from abroad. His work has focused on transforming the Bulgarian economy toward industries with high added value.

Prior to that, for five years he was a member of the Management Board of Bulgaria’s first decentralized autonomous organization, Comrade Cooperative. Vasilev also has extensive experience in the development of software products in the fields of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies.

He is fluent in English and has working knowledge of German and Russian. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of National and World Economy.
