Caretaker PM Expects Impartiality, Organization, and Timely Action from New Regional Governors Ahead of Early Elections

Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov expects impartiality, good organization, and timely action in organizing fair and transparent elections from the newly appointed regional governors, the government said in a press release on Thursday. At a meeting initiated by Gurov, all key topics related to the preparation for the upcoming early parliamentary vote in April were discussed.

“There are no secondary tasks,” Gurov emphasized, noting that the caretaker government’s goal is to ensure that the elections are conducted professionally, transparently, and according to the rules. “Your task is demanding and responsible. We are aware that there will be many challenges, and we are ready to support you with everything within our power,” he added. The Prime Minister specifically highlighted the need for effective organization and coordination.

Gurov also addressed public criticism regarding the replacement of regional governors. “These accusations mainly come from people who conducted some of the most dishonest elections in the country’s history, which were even sanctioned by the Constitutional Court,” he recalled, adding that the decision to make these changes quickly and have you here around this table is solely aimed at ensuring professionalism and securing proper organization for the elections.
