site.btaMinister of Finance Urges Government Institutions to Apply Salary Indexation by 5%

Caretaker Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski urged government institutions, ministries and municipalities to apply the 5% salary indexation as stipulated in the budget extension, during the regular briefing of the Coordination Centre under the Euro Mechanism in Parliament on Monday. According to Klisurski, in the upcoming days the cabinet will announce a second budget extension that will retain the indexation within the annual rate of inflation for workers in the public sector, as the current budget extension expires on March 31.

The Minister stressed that, according to the budget extension, the indexation should have been in effect since January 1, 2026, retroactively, but many of the institutions have not applied this legislation yet. He added that he cannot take a stance on the amount of public debt, as it relates to approving a regular budget.
