site.btaGeorge Sharkov Assumes Office as Caretaker Minister of Electronic Governance
Outgoing Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov handed over the ministry to his successor, caretaker minister George Sharkov. The two agreed on the need for continuity and sustainability in the ministry's policies, so as to ensure the implementation of priority tasks in the areas of electronic governance, cybersecurity and digital transformation.
Sharkov thanked Mundrov for his consistent efforts to further develop e-governance and strengthen cybersecurity. He said he would build on what has been achieved so far as a foundation for continuing the reforms already under way.
Sharkov identified as a key priority the organization of fair, transparent and public elections, with guaranteed security and public trust in machine voting. In this context, the Ministry of Electronic Governance continues its active work in two key areas: the certification of voting machines and the upgrading of the video surveillance system in voting sections. It was stressed that the involvement of a broad range of civil society organizations and independent experts in the certification process would help boost public confidence and limit the risk of electoral manipulation.
