Judges College Relieves Caretaker Minister of Interior Dechev of Sofia City Court Judge Post

The Judges College of the Supreme Judicial Council released Caretaker Minister of Interior Emil Dechev from his post as a judge at the Sofia City Court on Thursday.

The decision, taken under the Judicial System Act, took effect from the date of his appointment by decree of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Dechev has worked in the judiciary since 1997. His legal career in the judicial authorities began as an investigator at the Sofia Investigation Service at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. In 2000, he became a judge at the Pleven District Court, later moving to the Sofia District Court. Since 2012, he has served at the Sofia City Court. He has also held the post of deputy minister at the Ministry of Justice.

The caretaker government headed by Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov took office. After taking the oath at the National Assembly, a handover ceremony took place at the Council of Ministers.
