Bulgarian National Audit Office (BNAO) Vice President Silvia Kadreva said she was ready to serve as caretaker prime minister. "I am not running away from responsibility," she told reporters on Friday after meeting with President Iliana Iotova as part of the constitutional procedure for appointing a caretaker government.
She explained that there are no legal obstacles preventing her from serving as caretaker prime minister and that she will await the President’s decision. Kadreva added that forming a cabinet within such a short timeframe would be an extremely difficult task. "I assume that for each of us candidates it will be difficult, because we are not familiar with this process," she said.
Asked about the organization of fair elections, Kadreva replied that she would rely on her professional experience related to transparency and prevention.
Kadreva is the fifth official to express willingness to take on the post of caretaker prime minister, alongside Bulgarian National Bank Deputy Governor Andrey Gurov, BNAO President Dimitar Glavchev, BNAO Vice President Margarita Nikolova, and Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova.
