The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) signed a partnership agreement on Tuesday with the Union of Landscape Architects (ULA) of Bulgaria. The document was signed at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and ULA president Veselina Kalaykova.
Valchev said that with the signing of the agreement, the Union of Landscape Architects became the latest professional organization with which BTA establishes systematic cooperation. He noted that the Agency already has similar partnerships with more than 50 sectoral and professional organizations and associations in various fields.
Valchev presented landscape architect Veselina Kalaykova with publications and photographs from BTA’s archive related to the ULA. “The earliest one we have found dates back to 2006, two years after the organization was established,” Valchev specified.
BTA Director General pointed out that the partnership aims to ensure more systematic coverage of the activities of the ULA and its members, as well as to regulate copyright for the provided texts, photographs and video materials. The information will be accessible to all media, including for international distribution. Valchev added that the ULA has around 130 members, which creates opportunities for weekly publications over a period of nearly three years.
Another key element of the partnership is cooperation on the project The World of News, an initiative to transform the BTA building in Sofia and the space in front of it. The project envisages the construction of a thematic garden representing the continents of the world, with information boards and screens featuring news from different regions, Valchev explained.
“We are relying on assistance in three directions, in the preparation of the public procurement procedure we plan to announce in February-March, we rely on impartial expertise. We also rely heavily on support in popularization, as we want the best companies in Bulgaria working in landscape architecture to take part. And we rely on your union to be one of the guarantors that everything will be transparent, fair and will attract genuine interest from the very best, so that the project can be implemented in the best possible way. Our goal is to create a symbol at the entrance to the centre of Sofia. Finally, we also count on your support during the implementation itself, for the union to stand by our side so that we can avoid shortcomings and mistakes,” Valchev added.
ULA president Veselina Kalaykova described the agreement as a landmark for the organization. “BTA is a name, a face and a world-renowned news agency. Therefore, having it as our media partner can only bring benefits for us. I hope you will also benefit from our cooperation,” she said.
Kalaykova noted that they are familiar with the The World of News project and expressed hope that it would become “a very popular and emblematic place, a truly interactive and innovative initiative, unlike anything that has existed so far in Bulgaria and Sofia, and why not in the world”. She expressed support for the project’s implementation and for organizing and promoting the competition among their colleagues.
