Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Anguelieva hosted a farewell reception for the ambassadors of the Arab states accredited to Bulgaria on Friday, the Ministry said. Anguelieva was appointed ambassador to Hungary in November.
Arabist Dimitar Mihaylov, advisor in the Minister's Cabinet and soon-to-be ambassador to Qatar, co-hosted the reception. Todor Stoyanov, Director General for Bilateral Relations, who is set to head Bulgaria's Embassy in Spain, also attended the meeting.
Guests were presented with a new Arabic translation of the volume "Integrity of Religions and Communities in Bulgaria: Dimensions of Publicity and Diplomacy with Universal Relevance", produced as part of a Foreign Ministry seminar held in October 2024. The project was carried out with support from Bulgarian-Iraqi businessman Muhanned Al-Nuaimi. The attending ambassadors received copies of the publication, along with additional sets intended for the foreign ministers of the Arab states. Each volume includes a personal message from Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, highlighting the importance of tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and social harmony as cornerstones of the stability and unity of Bulgarian society.
Anguelieva thanked the ambassadors for their dedicated and unwavering efforts to develop and strengthen dialogue with Bulgaria. She said: "The longstanding relations between Bulgaria and the Arab states rest on mutual respect, shared interests and decades of partnership. I am confident that our constructive cooperation will continue to flourish in a spirit of trust and mutual esteem."
