The Bulgarian delegation, led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, arrived at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome, where later in the day the official presentation of the route for the 109th edition of the Giro d’Italia will take place.

Zhelyazkov, who is in Rome with Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh, and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev was welcomed by Italian Minister of Sports Andrea Abodi and Urbano Cairo, president of RCS Sport, the company organizing the Giro d’Italia.

Zhelyazkov, Abodi, and Cairo posed together for a photo with the trophy awarded annually to the winner of the Giro d’Italia, after which they entered the Auditorium for a closed-door meeting.

Bulgaria will host the start of Giro d’Italia for the first time. The country will host the first three of a total of 21 stages, with participants set to cover over 600 kilometers from Nessebar to Sofia before heading to Calabria, where the fourth stage will start. The Giro d’Italia will begin on May 8 and end on May 31, 2026, in Rome.
