site.btaPolice in Sofia Seize 150 Kg of Marijuana, Two Men Detained
During a specialized police operation in Sofia, law enforcement officers seized over 150 kilograms of marijuana, the Sofia Directorate of Interior said on its website.
On November 6, in an abandoned building in the Orlandovtsi neighborhood, the police seized 13 kilograms of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags, as well as 71 boxes of plant material, each weighing two kilograms. Law enforcers identified a private company managing the building, along with its manager.
Two men were detained for up to 24 hours in connection with the case - a 64-year-old manager and a 46-year-old man. The manager has prior convictions for document fraud, while the younger man is known to the police for thefts. Later, the 46-year-old was formally charged and detained for up to 72 hours.
A pre-trial investigation has been opened into the case.
At the end of October, the Sofia police discovered another storage facility containing over 10 kilograms of marijuana and about 4 kilograms of synthetic drugs, including cocaine. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is BGN 1 million.
