The Danube Bridge will be closed to traffic on November 4 due to major repairs, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) reported on Thursday. Passage for cars will be restricted from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m, while passage for heavy-duty trucks will be restricted from 9:00 a.m. on November 4 to 9:00 a.m on November 5.

The RIA reported that the current stage of construction work on the 320-metre section in the direction of Romania requires that no vehicles pass through during the first 12 hours after the concrete mixes have been laid to connect the joint between the last two repaired sections. This will ensure a strong connection between the panels and the strength of the concrete. Compliance with this technological requirement in the construction process requires complete traffic stoppage.

During the traffic stoppage, heavy-duty truck drivers will be able to use parking lots and rest areas in the regions of Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Yambol, and Haskovo.

Since the bridge's renovation began on July 10, 2024, traffic was stopped for 24 hours only once in March 2025 for the execution of similar activities on another section of the bridge. Throughout the rest of the period, all construction and installation works were carried out daily without stopping traffic, as the operations were organized and carried out in a way that would allow vehicles to pass in both directions on the lane where no work was being done.
