The Minister of Public Investments and President of the Executive Board of the Serbian Progressive Party, Darko Glisic, suddenly fell ill during a guest appearance on Pink TV's morning show on Tuesday.
Glisic's speech suddenly became incomprehensible. He began to stutter and was unable to form sentences as he attempted to answer a question from the hosts in the studio. He could not complete the interview, and the program was interrupted. An emergency medical team intervened as soon as possible. Glisic was urgently transported to one of the Belgrade hospitals, where he got medical care.
Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar later confirmed that his colleague Glisic had suffered a stroke and was in severe condition at the Belgrade Emergency Clinical Centre, state broadcaster RTS reported.
"He fell ill during the television broadcast and was brought [to the Emergency Clinical Centre] unconscious, diagnostics are underway, and therapy is beginning. What is known so far is that he is in severe condition. It is important that he arrived on time, as the first few hours after a stroke are crucial," Loncar told Informer TV, noting that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has been with Glisic from the very beginning.
Immediately after the incident, on his Instagram profile, Vucic posted an encouraging message to Glisic: "Darko, hang in there! Don't give up!"
Glisic underwent surgery, Radio 92 reported.
Darko Glisic is one of Aleksandar Vucic's closest associates.
