Four tourists, including a child, died on Monday evening after a boat carrying 14 people capsized in Musura Bay in Romania, where the Danube River flows into the Black Sea, local media reported.

An investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy in the port city of Sulina is underway.

According to sources quoted by the newspaper Adevarul, the vessel was not approved for passenger transport or for such recreational trips.

The incident occurred in rough waters, said Daniel Nastase, spokesman for the Tulcea Emergency Department.

Several boats from the Tulcea fire department, the fire brigade from Crisan, and the Tulcea county emergency services arrived at the scene immediately.
